Indications and limitations for the use of total and partial prostheses in medial fractures of femoral neck

The treatment of choice for medial fractures of the neck of the femur is still controversial. When the patient's conditions allow surgical treatment, the possible alternatives described in the literature include internal fixation, the implant of a partial monopolar or bipolar prosthesis or the implant of a replacement joint. The aim of treatment for this type of lesions is to re-establish functions prior to fracture without creating co-morbidity. The results of an analysis of studies on this subject highlight the importance of using an algorithm for the best treatment of medial fractures of the femural neck.
