GOLD OPEN ACCESS versus GREEN OPEN ACCESS

Different open access types are currently commonly described using a colour system. The most commonly recognised names are "green" and "gold" open access.

What does it mean?

The article is freely available online upon publication to anyone anywhere for reading, downloading and sharing.

Minerva Medica offers authors two ways to publish gold open access:

- Fully open access journals where every article is published open access

- Hybrid journals where articles are published either open access or following the traditional subscription-based model

Publication costs

Authors will be asked to pay an Article Processing Charge.

Green Open Access

What does it mean?

The authors of articles published via the subscription-based route are permitted to self-archive the preprint and postprint version of their research in several ways provided that they comply with the Self-archiving policy about what can be archived, where and when.
