Aneurysmal degeneration of iliac arteries can occur associated with abdominal aortic aneurysm or less frequently in isolation. As in the abdominal aorta, large aneurysms are more likely to be associated with iliac rupture or development of symptoms, thus elective repair is usually advocated in aneurysms larger than 3 cm. Endovascular treatment is considered the first-line therapy due to a significantly reduced 30-day mortality, morbidity, in-hospital stay, however some anatomical and technical factors need to be considered in order to improve results and reduce postoperative risks. This article resumes different endovascular strategies described for treating iliac aneurysms focusing on short and long-term results, indications, limitations as well as main technical considerations.
