Patellar instability: background

Patellar instability is a disabling condition that provokes pain and apprehension to patients. Knowledge of anatomy and biomechanic of knee is fundamental for understanding the basis of this instability and treating it adequately. In this review we provide to summarise the anatomical causes, the biomechanical predispositions, and the clinical and radiological aspects of an unstable patellofemoral joint.
