The current edition of the CACVS book collects the articles related to the presentations made during the 2011 Paris meeting “Controversies and Updates in Vascular Surgery”. CACVS remains, after 19 years, one of the leading European congresses dedicated to vascular and endovascular surgery. Although very specialized, vascular surgery covers a broad field of diseases and practices. It includes the usual arterial pathology such as aneurysms, peripheral occlusive diseases, and carotid but also pathologies which are at the confluent of various specialties such as cardiac surgery for the aortic dissection and arch pathologies, internal medicine and angiology for the venous diseases and medical therapy, nephrology for vascular accesses and of course vascular radiology and cardiology. We feel that sharing the experience of all these specialists can shed appropriate light on the ways we explore and treat our patients.
