Echo-color Doppler of large veins

The combination of real time B-mode ultrasound and color Doppler at the level of the abdominal veins is mainly aimed at detecting thrombosis and external venous compression. Due to the complexity of the abdomen organs, to the inherent difficulty in insonating veins which are below the bowel with gas, it is recommended to use specific protocol abdominal vein. Color Doppler is a non-invasive diagnostic modality, relatively cheap, that for these characteristics can be used not only as a screening method for vascular abnormalities, but for follow-up of both conservative and post-procedural treatments. US is a very accurate tool also for diagnosing renal vein thrombosis in experienced hands.
