The use of thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) and Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has dramatically changed our algorithm to management of aortic disease and aortic valve disease. Devices used for TEVAR and TAVI are considered large-bore devices, when compared to delivery catheters used in peripheral arterial or coronary interventions. This manuscript will describe the various access options for TEVAR and TAVI, and present the importance of preprocedural planning, prompt recognition of intraoperative complication and the management options.
