Patient specific pedicle screw placement guide for severe spine deformity in VACTERL syndrome

Scoliosis surgery is considered a demanding surgery all over the world. Sometimes the difficulties may be greater than surgeon skills and can made surgery quite impossible. Fortunately, nowadays, some devices can help surgeon in facing up problems and difficulties that can be encountered during surgery; PSI (patient specific instruments) are one of these. We report our case of a 13-year-old female affected by thoracolumbar congenital scoliosis associated to VACTERL (vertebral, anal, cardiac, tracheo-esophageal fistula, renal, and limb anomalies) syndrome, situs inversus and idiopathic-congenital leukopenia and anemia in which PSI permitted to perform an optimal corrective surgery that probably could not be achieved without their use.
