The aim of this study was to account for work done previously on the role of orthopedic techniques and implants with the aim of minimizing the complications of pertrochantric fractures. The complications associated with these fractures are mainly cut out, slipping and migration of implants from the tissue site. Improper implantation techniques of orthopedic implants during surgery also cause complications. The presented orthopedic techniques and implants are the current emerging approaches for the treatment of pertrochanteric fractures that have been used with considerable success rates. Proper selection of implants and implantation techniques is required to reduce the complications.
