Treated exudative CNV: short-term and long-term real-life evolution

Choroidal neovascularization (CNV) is part of the spectrum of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) consisting of the abnormal growth of vessels from the choroidal vasculature to the neurosensory retina through the Bruch’s membrane. Exudative AMD is the main complication that implies worsening of central visual acuity. Fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography and imaging of the fundus have always been a milestone in the diagnosis and management of CNV eyes allowing to highlight typical vascular aspects of new vessels. Recently the introduction of OCT-Angiography (OCTA) have allowed to detect chorioretinal vessels without dye injection introducing a new era in the management of exudative AMD. The OCTA in exudative AMD is able to detect minimum alterations related to new vessels growing, allowing detailed diagnosis, short-term and long-term real-life evolution.
