Nasal reconstruction using a forehead flap in a case of rhinophyma

Rhinophyma is a rare skin condition that affects the nose. It is characterized by a progressive increase in nasal size, due to hyperplasia of sebaceous glands and connective tissue, associated with skin redness. This clinic features can have an aesthetic, functional, psychological and social impact. Several medical and surgical options are available for its treatment, but none has proved to be the method of choice. Surgical removal can cause a significant nasal defect which requires reconstruction. The use of the forehead flap in cases of rhinophyma has been rarely described. A clinical case is presented herein where this reconstructive method was chosen to treat previous surgeries sequelae and multiple treatment options are reviewed.
