Complex soft tissue injuries to the nose can be a challenge to manage. The most common cause of soft tissue trauma over the nose is motor vehicle collision, followed by interpersonal violence, sports injuries, dog bites and work related accidents. The presentation of these injuries can range from abrasions and complex lacerations to complete soft tissue avulsion with or without involving bone and cartilage. Esthetic reconstruction of nasal defects can be accomplished with split thickness skin grafts (STSGs), full thickness skin grafts (FTSGs), composite grafts, local flaps or microvascular free flaps. Choice of the procedure is based on the size and location of the defect, patient’s medical condition, availability of donor tissue, patient preference, and surgeon’s preference. The purpose of this article is to report a case of a patient with dorsal nasal defect that was successfully reconstructed with right supraclavicular full thickness skin graft. Additionally, describe various techniques for reconstruction of similar defects.
