Relationship between lecture stress and lecture satisfaction of taking Taekwondo classes of college students majoring in physical education

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of autonomy support and the multiple mediating effects of engagement in Taekwondo lecture stress and lecture satisfaction among college students majoring in physical education.
METHODS: The subjects of the study were 163 students from physical education in two universities located in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, who took Taekwondo practical lectures in the Fall semester of 2019 and the Spring semester of 2020. They measured the lecture stress, autonomy support, engagement, and lecture satisfaction. SPSS v. 18.0, PROCESS Macro (V.2.13) program was used to analyze the collected data.
RESULTS: First, lecture stress had a significant negative effect on lecture satisfaction. Second, lecture stress exerted a positive indirect effect on lecture satisfaction through autonomy support. Third, lecture stress exerted a positive indirect effect on lecture satisfaction through autonomy support and engagement.
CONCLUSIONS: There are not many studies involving students taking Taekwondo lectures that are focused on the pedagogical field, if the results of this study are meaningfully reflected in the Taekwondo education field, it will be possible to support the autonomy of the students.
