Selective feticide for severe fetal abnormality in dichorionic twin
Olufemi A. OLOYEDE ✉
Unit of Fetal Maternal Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Shagamu, Nigeria
Twin pregnancy is associated with higher incidence of congenital anomalies compared with singleton. Some of the anomalies are discordant and may constitute management challenge. The management options are termination of pregnancy, selective feticide or continuation of pregnancy. Selective feticide has been not been reported in Nigeria. A case of a 41 year-old G2 P1 +0 with discordant fetal anomaly in dichorionic placentation is presented. She underwent successful selective feticide with ultrasound guided injection of potassium chloride injection into the cardiac ventricles and eventually delivered of the healthy fetus at term.
