Effect of permanent mood on the mental health of students

BACKGROUND: The aim of this article is to study the influence of permanent mood on the mental health of students.
METHODS: Materials were received in the period from 2014 to 2017 in the city of Chelyabinsk. The study involved 128 male and female students aged 17-23 years, engaged in and not engaged in physical education and sport. Assessment of the parameters of mental health was conducted using the self-assessment method with a ten-point scale. The results of the study were processed using Pearson pair correlation coefficients.
RESULTS: Permanent mood has a statistically significant direct relationship with individual components of mental health: well-being, emotional state, psychological climate in team, ability to overcome stressful situations, adequate perception of stressful situation, willingness to be engaged in sport, professional, and educational activities, emotional self-control, ability to adjust mental state to stress and integral level of mental health.
CONCLUSIONS: Feedback is detected with the presence of stress factors. Further research can be aimed at developing an effective methodology for improving the permanent mood of students by means of physical education and sport.
