Transcatheter aortic valve implantation with hyperdynamic “ballerina foot” pattern of left ventricular contraction

We report a case of an 83-year-old female with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis and mitral valve prolapse, who was treated with trans-catheter aortic-valve implantation (TAVI). Due to a hyperdynamic “ballerina foot” pattern of left ventricular contraction, the extra stiff wire was repeatedly ejected from the left ventricle into the aorta at systole. Finally, the wire was stabilized after a special curvature accommodating the “ballerina foot” shape of the left ventricle at systole was made. A CoreValve bioprosthesis was then successfully implanted.
