Facts and misfits in ultrasound therapy: steps to improve your treatment outcomes
Draper D. O. ✉
Brigham Young University, Provo, UT, USA
Ultrasound has been used as a therapeutic agent for decades. Unfortunately many treatments are ineffective because the wrong treatment parameters are used. In this paper I present much of my work over the past 20 years with the goal of improving ultrasound use. Seven steps to optimal ultrasound use are presented. These include: treatment size area; treatment duration; intensity; frequency; tissue type; movement speed of the transducer; and the “stretching window”.
