Traumatic mitral valve injury by low-energy chest trauma: a rare cause of acute heart failure

Isolated traumatic mitral valve injury is a very rare condition leading to sudden and severe mitral regurgitation. To the date all described traumatic mitral valve injuries were results of high energy blunt chest trauma. We present a rare case of low energy trauma leading to a severe mitral valve regurgitation and pulmonary edema.
