The introduction of laparoscopic techniques in the early 90’s changed the approach to the treatment of hiatal hernias, as they are now the gold standard and are routinely applied in the clinical praxis. We present a case of a 61-year-old man with severe complications after a laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication requiring a subtotal esophagectomy, cervical esophagostomy and nutritional jejunostomy. After a restoration of the gastrointestinal tract by a coloesophagoplasty, a stricture of the esophagocolic anastomosis developed. Due to a persistent dysphagia despite an endoscopic treatment, a resection of the stricture was performed, followed by a rapid recovery of the patient.
