Remnant of the omphalomesenteric duct complicated by axial torsion in 16-months-old girl: case report and review of literature

Umbilical remnants of omphalomesenteric duct are usually clinically silent. A rare clinical manifestation in pediatric age, is a small intestinal obstruction due to axial torsion of omphalomesenteric duct remnant. We report a case of a gangrenous Meckel’s diverticulum secondary to axial torsion in patient with gastroenteritis, which has been reported once in the past 45 years.
