Spontaneous transverse colon rupture: report of a case and review of literature

A 73-year-old man was admitted with stopping defecation for 10 days. He developed right lower abdominal pain suddenly on the second day of admission, which then gradually spread to the whole abdomen, accompanying with peritonitis signs such as muscular tension, tenderness and positive rebound tenderness. He was diagnosed with transverse colon rupture. The clinical characteristics, as well as diagnosis and treatment process were reported as follows.
