Masson’s tumor as a post-catheterization complication

Maria Lourdes DEL RÍO SOLÁ, Carlos VAQUERO PUERTA

Department of Vascular Surgery, University Hospital of Valladolid, Valladolid, Spain

PDF

Masson’s tumor, or intravascular epithelial papillary hyperplasia, is a rare vascular pathology and the diagnosis of this entity can be difficult with a broad differential diagnosis, including intravascular fasciitis, intravascular pyogenic granuloma, and angiosarcoma. Its presentations may vary based on localization, it is known to act aggressively and it generally recurs when not completely resected. We describe the case of a patient with intravascular epithelial papillary hyperplasia presenting as a brachial artery aneurysm after catheterization and discuss diagnosis and therapeutic approach.
