Dysontogenetic cyst of floor of mouth: report of two clinical cases with different location and literature review

Dermoid cysts are hamartomas which may contain various derivatives of endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm. Any class can occur at numerous locations, but only 7% of the dermoid cysts occur in the head and neck region. Gan et al. reported in 2008 the youngest case of a dermoid cyst of mouth floor and sinus tract, but the authors add in the present article two more cases; one of them is the youngest one up to now. The reported cases described two different surgical approaches, intraoral and submental ones, due to the peculiarities of the two different clinical locations of the mass, with respect to the mylohyoid muscle.
