The extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma (EMC), described as a phenotypically and genotypically distinctive entity in 1972, is a sarcoma of soft tissue characterized by a protracted clinical course. Its incidence in the maxillo-facial location is very rare; in the literature only few cases are reported. The authors discuss a case of EMC, characterized by aspects of dedifferentiation, localized at the right half of the maxilla underlining the importance of the immunohistochemical investigations.
