Open surgical repair on abdominal aortic aneurysms has been performed for many years with good results. Despite the many advances in medical care, the procedure is still associated with many complications. The Gore Excluder endograft is a third-generation endograft that became the third commercially available endograft approved in the United States. Data from multiple trials have compared the use of the Excluder endograft to open repair and have shown favorable results. This review shall summarize the clinical use of the Excluder endograft from its initial clinical trial in 1998 to its current commercial use.
