Peroneal artery pseudoaneurysm associated with arteriovenous fistula managed by endovascular treatment

Nabil A. AL-ZOUBI

Department of Surgery, Jordan University of Science and Technology, Irbid, Jordan

Peroneal artery pseudoaneurysms (PAPAs) are rare with the vast majority are traumatic in etiology. Association of PAPA and traumatic arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) are uncommonly reported in the literature and are extremely rare presenting together. Although surgery is the traditional management, endovascular treatment by embolization is a novel solution to this type of lesion. A 30-year-old-male presented after two weeks of gun-shot injury on his right leg with right calf pain and swelling. Duplex ultrasound and CT-angiogram revealed PAPA associated traumatic with AVF. The patient was successfully treated by endovascular coil embolization. Association of PAPA and traumatic AVF is extremely rare. Endovascular coil embolization is a safe and novel solution to this type of lesion and can be the only treatment without further surgical decompression in certain cases.
