Multilayer System
Brizzio O., Idiazabal G.
GIC Grupo Internacional de la Compresión (International Group of Compresión)
The multilayer bandage is a real system that works with longitudinal and transverse forces and is characterized by high working pressure, which develops during the movement and tolerates resting pressure by prone position. Working and resting pressure produced by a short elongation (30-40%) multilayer bandage was evaluated on a patient with lymphoedema in one of his legs who had not received any treatment. An increase in the resting pressure was detected by overlapping each bandage layer. The working pressure was increased, at expense of the maximum working pressure. A correct placement of the bandages with decreasing pressures from distal to proximal was verified. Finally, transmission forces, that confer the system’s concept, were studied.
