Endovascular treatment of two rare cases of aneurysms of the supra-aortic trunks

Aneurysms of the supra-aortic trunks (SAT) are rare, accounting for only 3-5% of all peripheral arterial aneurysms. Because endovascular therapy is less invasive and poses a lower risk than “traditional” operations, it may offer a simple, safe approach to such lesions. Herein we describe 2 cases of SAT aneurysms, the 1st in a patient with aneurysmal dilatation of the innominate artery due to Takayasu’s disease and the 2nd with a similar lesion in the area of the right subclavian artery. Both patients underwent endoluminal treatment. In the 2nd patient an open operation was required a few days later.
