The authors report a case of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in a patient with a renal transplant dating back a number of years, located in an iliac fossa and still well functioning. The operation was carried out using a femorofemoral shunt with pump oxygenator as a means of protecting the transplanted kidney. The authors also evaluate other methods of protecting renal graft perfusion reported in the literature.
