Post-traumatic aneurysm of the abdominal aorta. Clinical case and review of the literature
Agrifoglio G., Gabrielli L., Martelli E.
From the Department of Vascular Surgery and Angiology (Director: Prof. G. Agrifoglio) University of Milan, Milan, Italy
Few cases of abdominal aortic injury caused by a blunt trauma are reported in the literature and even fewer cases of aortic aneurysms developing after injuries. The present case of post-traumatic aortic aneurysm developed after a car crash and was discovered by accident in the course of an ultrasound scan. In this case surgical treatment was successful. The paper concludes with a review of the literature on the subject.
