Hepatic cystic formations represent a heterogeneous group of lesions with a predominantly fluid content and parenchymal localization. The aim of this work is to describe the imaging findings of intra and extrahepatic cystic formations using an integrated approach of imaging with ultrasonography (US), computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MRI). The purpose of this article is to review the imaging findings according to the literature in order to describe the different features of these lesions that could help the radiologist to perform differential diagnosis in the clinical practice.
