Zenker’s diverticulum is a rare clinical finding, with onset in the middle-advanced age, characterized by the appearance of oropharyngeal dysphagia, halitosis and regurgitation of indigestible foods; possible complications related to it include ab ingestis pneumonia, poor absorption of oral therapies, malnutrition and weight loss, diverticulitis, perforation, bleeding, fistula, paralysis of the vocal cords and malignant degeneration. The diagnosis of Zenker’s diverticulum is made through the videofluoroscopic study of swallowing; in our clinical case, the use of this diagnostic method has allowed to identify and document also the pharyngeal dyskinesia, responsible for the formation of the diverticulum itself and at the base of the symptoms reported by the patient.
