Intrathoracic medical devices are frequently found in radiographic examinations, and often the chest x-ray is required to evaluate correct placement of the same. Intrathoracic devices are associated with frequent malpositioning and complications can be very serious. We report in this work, proposed as a pictorial essay, the main radiological characteristics and the criteria of correctness relative to the positioning of the most common thoracic devices. We suggest a systemic evaluation of each device found in radiological examinations also performed for other reasons, referring to the criteria reported in Literature.
