Capillary leak syndrome is a rare disease characterized by reversible fluid and plasma proteins extravasation in the extravascular space caused by endothelial barrier dysfunction. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) has been identified as one of the etiopathogenetic factors of this disease, which manifests itself with signs and symptoms that reflect an increased capillary permeability, resulting in non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema and pleural effusion. We report a rare case of capillary leak syndrome following administration of G-CSF in a patient with acute myeloid leukemia and undergoing autologous hematopoietic stem cells transplantation.
