Pleural mesothelioma is a malignant and aggressive tumor, whose relationship with exposure to asbestos was widely demonstrated in numerous studies. In the area of Casale Monferrato, the region of interest to us, in view of the significant environmental and occupational exposure to asbestos, the incidence of this disease is actually increasing, with a peak expected for 2020. Then malignant pleural mesothelioma is not a rare disease and may have clinical and radiological presentations little known in the literature, hardly linkable to this pathology in clinical practice. So far there is no effective therapeutic strategy and the prognosis remains unfavorable because mesothelioma is a deadly and aggressive disease, resistant to treatment. The purpose of our work is to describe those representing radiological signs, especially CT evidences, more and less frequent in the diagnosis of this disease, either at the early stage that in advanced pathology. In addition, the use of measurements according to RECIST (Response evaluation criteria in solid tumors) allows us to assess, in a standard way, disease activity during and after treatment. The CT examination, in view of the considerable spread of such equipment, the scanning speed and ability to replicate objectively measures according to RECIST useful to monitor disease progression or less, is currently election examination method to put the suspected diagnosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma and follow up of patients.
