Parotid abscess is a rare complication in neonates with supportive infection. Most cases generally need hospitalization and treatment including intravenous (IV) antibiotics and surgical drainage. We report on the case of a 20-day-old girl who developed unilateral parotid gland abscess. Ultrasound method was used for initial diagnosis and Streptococcus pyogenes was isolated from blood culture. The patient successfully treated with 16 days IV antibiotic therapy and surgical drainage. Although the mainstay in the treatment of neonatal suppurative parotitis is antibiotic therapy, surgical drainage is required in cases of abscess formation.
