Cystic lymphoid hyperplasia in the larynx: serendipity in clinical practice

Ectopic tonsils have been reported in different anatomic locations of the oral cavity and in other parts of the aerodigestive tracts i.e. larynx, hypopharynx, nasal septum or in the orbit. Hereby we report the case of A 70-year-old Caucasian man with smooth submucosal mass in the left arytenoid. The patient reported severe intermittent and positional dyspnea. The mass was endoscopically removed under general anesthesia with CO2 laser and it was histologically diagnosed as hyperplastic ectopic tonsillar tissue.
