Pleural thymomatosis: a rare entity with an unusual presentation. A case report

Primary thymomas located outside the anterior mediastinum are rare. Ectopic thymomas of the pleura have been rarely reported. For this reason, they must be differentiated from malignant mesotheliomas. The case presented here is of an adult male patient with a pleural thymomatosis presenting with an intestinal occlusion due to the volvulus. The presence of ectopic thymoma and the possible pathogenetic relation between the lesion and the unusual clinical manifestation are here discussed.
