An unusual case of hydatid cyst presenting with multiple pulmonary nodules. Case report
Genel F., Arslanoglu S., Atlihan F., Bozabali R., Targan S., Yuncu G.
Diffuse nodular opacities of 0.5-1 cm in size were visualized in pulmonary parenchyma with computed thorax tomography in an 11- year-old girl. In differential diagnosis, conditions leading to multiple pulmonary nodule formations such as malignity, infections, occupational lung diseases were considered. With clinical and radiological findings it could not be possible to have a precise diagnosis, and ultimately histopathological evaluation led us to the diagnosis of hydatid cyst disease. We present this case to emphasize the necessity to consider the disease in differential diagnosis whenever homogeneous round nodules, particularly associated with eosinophilia are demonstrated in the lungs.
