Diffuse interstitial pulmonary calcinosis. Clinicopathological features and case report
Mugnaini L., Petroianni A., Laurendi G., Bisetti A.
Pulmonary calcinosis, primitive or secondary to a wide variety of clinical situations, can have a benign course in most patients, but some fulminant cases of respiratory failure have been described. Symptoms include dyspnea and chronic, nonproductive cough. Pulmonary function may be normal as well as chest radiographs. Less frequently, diffuse parenchymal abnormality mimicking pneumonia or pulmonary edema may be identified. In some cases, the disease can be reversed with an appropriate therapy. The histological findings of a case are authors reported.
