Bulimic forms of anorexia nervosa. Case report
Ros L. T.
The problem is still controversial whether anorexia nervosa and bulimia are disease entities or only symptom syndromes. In my patient, detailed psychiatric examination ruled out schizophrenic process and other psychoses. It confirmed obsessive-compulsive syndrome. The author choosing sertraline as the basic drug in the treatment of the patient, took into account the good therapeutic effects of this drug in obsessive-compulsive syndrome, reported by other authors. In the choice of the drug, the author followed the reports by some authors who obtained after sertraline body weight gain in their patients. Sertraline was evidently better tolerated by patients than tryciclic antidepressants. The cholinolytic effect of sertraline is minimal.
