The authors report their experience about fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FBS) in non-invasive ventilation (NIV) using bilevel positive airway pressure system in spontaneous/cycle mode, using inspiratory and expiratory positive pressure (IPAP and EPAP) in patients with acute respiratory failure. The method was inserted into the flow chart of the diagnostic evaluation of neoplastic and infectious respiratory disease, with bronchial wash and BAL execution.
