A total of 881 hip and knee arthroplasties were performed at the orthopaedic departments of the Koelliker Clinic and the Villa Maria Pia Hospital, both Turin, the Vialarda Clinic, Biella, and the Casa di Cura Eporediese, Ivrea, between 2003 and 2004. Of these, 394 were total knee replacements, 33 single compartment knee replacements, 28 hip prosthesis revisions, and 13 knee prosthesis revisions. The patients were clinically evaluated at 45 days, 6 months and 1 year after the operation. The complication rate was in line with the published data.
