Hip arthroscopy. Indications and technique

Zini R., Cotta Ramusino C., Arnaldi E.

PDF

On the basis of personal experience and of a review of the literature, the indications for hip arthroscopy in the diagnosis and treatment of hip diseases, and the basic knowledge to perform it, are described. The surgical technique is also described and the major steps to facilitate arthroscopic treatment are underlined. The equipment and patient's position in the operating room, anesthesia, instrumentation, portals location compared to anatomical locations of nerves and vessels are reported. Like other arthroscopic techniques (eg cruciate ligament reconstruction) currently performed in the authors' opinion hip arthroscopy will soon develope more precise indications and become familiar among orthopedic surgeons.
