Dexketoprofen-trometamol in patients with osteoarthritis of the hands

Rovetta G., Monteforte P.

PDF

Background. The aim of this research was to verify the action of dexketoprofen-trometamol (DKT) 50 mg orally, administered early in the morning, versus acetaminophen on morning stiffness and pain in osteoarthritis hand.
Methods. This was a crossover study involving 36 patients affected by active osteoarthritis of the hands. WOMAC osteoarthritis index for osteoarthritis-induced pain and osteoarthritis-induced stiffness was employed.
Results. The degree of morning stiffness, appreciated by means of WOMAC scale for OA stiffness, was significantly diminished during DKT administration but not during acetaminophen.
Conclusions. This rapidly acting drug is quite effective in reducing hand monitoring stiffness of OA.
