The treatment of the supracondylar fractures of the humerus according to arino method. the authors’ experience

Aim. The aim of this study was to present their experience on the treatment of the pediatric supracondylar fractures of the humerus according to Arino method.
Methods. Such fractures constitute the 75% of pediatric elbow fractures and they have a great importance for the possible complications. Since 1990 the authors have been adopting Arino’s treatment of supracondylar fractures of the humerus. The treatment includes the bloodless reduction and the synthesis with Kirschner threads within the 24 hours following the trauma, reducing the times of hospitalization of patients and improving notably their compliance.
Results. The results obtained were good in 88 patients (91%), with axial deviation in 5 patients (5%), calcifications in 2 patients (2%), hypertrophic callus in two patients (2%).
Conclusion. These satisfactory results lead to the conclusion that such treatment, even it it asks for a asking for a greater effort from the health operators and the hospital structure, is highly advisable.
