Minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty
Savarese A., Pasquali F.
Divisione di Ortopedia e Traumatologia Ospedale Civile di Manerbio, Brescia
After outlining current trends in minimally invasive techniques, the authors report their experience with 320 cases of minimally invasive total hip replacement. A CFP prosthetic stem (Link) and an elastic TOP socket were used throughout. The CFP stem permits a truly minimally invasive procedure in which the femoral head is resected, leaving the cervical stump intact. The surgical technique is described in detail and the preliminary clinical results are presented.
