Aim. The objective of this study is to evaluate, during a follow-up period, the obtained clinical results as regards the use of the prosthesis of the shoulder on a traumatic basis.
Methods. Retrospectively analysed 20 patients worked at U.B. of Orthopaedics and Trauma-tology of the Regional Hospital of Valle d’Aosta, in the period July 2002-January 2005 (average follow-up 26.9 months). It has been examined the type of fracture, the type of trauma, the type of installed prosthesis, the complications. For the evaluation the Constant Test has been used.
Results. The mean value obtained for the Constant Test, related to 100 has been of 62.7 points, related to 75 excluding the evaluation of the “strength”, has been of 53.05 points.
Conclusion. The obtained results confirm the difficulty in the treatment of the fractures of the proximal humerus with a sufficient articular recovery but a good symptomatology solution, and so the use of the prosthesis remains in most cases a validate solution.
