The unstable patella in total knee arthroplasty

Patellar maltracking is a serious complication following total knee arthroplasty and can be responsible for premature wear of the patellar component, vertical patellar fracture, patellar and knee dislocation as well as patellar component loosening. The most common cause of maltracking is internal rotation of the femoral or tibial component which can be evaluated by computed tomography.
