Osteochondral lesions of the talus

Osteochondral lesions of the talus have recently come of age as a result of increased awareness and improvement in diagnostic methods. Interest in the talus has followed the knee in many respects. Morbidity associated with missed lesions can be significant and there are a variety of diagnostic and surgical techniques described. Stability of the osteochondral fragment remains a critical factor in the management and outcome of these injuries. With improvements in diagnostic methods and further specialisation in arthroscopy, outcomes will continue to improve.
